  1. This questionnaire helps you understand your unique constitution (Prakriti) according to Ayurveda. It explores your physical, physiological and psychological characteristics to determine your Prakriti.
  2. Read each question carefully. There are no right or wrong answers, as everyone is unique.
  3. The options are presented in no specific order.
  4. Choose the option that best reflects your natural tendencies and usual patterns.
  5. Answer honestly and intuitively.
  6. If you find yourself relating to multiple options, choose the one that has more characteristics that resonate with you.
  7. Trust your gut feeling when selecting an option.

The BPI is a self-report questionnaire, developed and psychometrically validated in a study of 1,857 adults, using multiple correspondence analysis, latent class analysis and item response theory. This questionnaire has been developed from Bhargav H, Chikkanna U, Holla B, et al. Wellcome Open Res. 2026;10:669. Item wording is reproduced verbatim from the published instrument.

How this is scored

Each of the 21 items scores one point to the dosha you chose. Your raw totals are converted to percentages by dividing by 21. The three always add up to 100%.
